A free trading journal template you can keep using
Download a blank CSV with the suggested headers. Open it in Excel, Google Sheets or another spreadsheet editor, add your completed trades and keep a copy of the source records.
Download the blank template
No email or account needed. The file contains headers only, so sample trades cannot be mistaken for your real history. CSV contains no formatting, charts or spreadsheet formulas.
Open it and add one completed trade per row. Keep the headers unchanged for MeowPips import. Export or download your filled sheet as CSV when ready.
Understand the fields
| Header | What to enter |
|---|---|
symbol | A consistent instrument label, such as EURUSD or a stock ticker. |
risk | Original planned money risk in your profile currency. |
lot | Size in your records' units. Review lot-oriented import conversions, especially above 100 units. |
pnl | Realized money result with a consistent fee convention; a minus sign means a loss. |
position | long or short. |
outcome | profit, loss or breakeven. Import derives this from P&L. |
entry_price, exit_price | Recorded prices. Keep individual partial fills in notes for a completed-position row. |
entry_time, exit_time | YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM in one consistent timezone, following the upload instructions. |
rating, notes | Useful in the spreadsheet copy. Import assigns a default rating and “Imported via CSV” note; add context afterward. |
An example of a filled row
Fictional example, USD profile. This row is not in the blank download. Both timestamps use the same timezone.

$28 final P&L ÷ $20 planned risk = 1.4R. The $103 weighted exit price summarizes the fictional partial exits in the stock guide.
Review before saving
- Choose the correct profile and check its reporting currency and timezone.
- Read the upload dialog's current format instructions.
- Select your CSV, then inspect the preview. Check symbols, direction, size, risk, P&L and timestamps against the statement.
- Resolve missing values and unexpected conversions before saving. Start with a few rows for a new export format.
- Keep the original CSV and add decision notes or screenshots after import.
Use plain numeric fields without currency symbols or thousands separators. Quote notes containing commas. Do not upload spreadsheet formulas in place of numeric results.
When manual entry is better
If large share counts, unusual contract units, mixed currencies or partial fills are represented incorrectly in the preview, enter manually and preserve detail in notes. MeowPips does not automatically convert account currencies, value derivatives or execute trades.
